How we have dreamed and reached to embrace
Fairy tales and Princesses with gowns made of lace.
We imagine the Prince and we picture the day
when He'll come on His horse and sweep us away.
But as the months and years go by
we deem these stories just a lie
and, "once upon a time," make believe.
We learn this love we can't achieve.
Such wasted love, wasted nights and years.
Silly dates and flirtations all ending in tears.
And we wonder as we gaze at the pieces and parts,
How much more pain can we dump on our hearts?"
One more kiss, one more boy, just one more try,"
we argue with reason and we sell and we buy.
In the end we are loosing what we can't get back,
we are trading our mansion for a broken down shack.
Then like a cool breeze He comes to us,
A Prince and a Knight, His name is Jesus.
We're shocked that we've never seen it before,
this love that refreshes and begins to restore.
Those Fairy Tales-"Happily ever after," and all
don't seem just stories for when we were small.
We float, we dance, we laugh and we sing,
amazed and astonished by the love of our King.
We want more and more of the warmth of His face,
We long to spend our, "ever after," in His embrace.
We are the beggar turned princess, the pauper now Queen,
this is the change that our Jesus can bring.
O, it's never, never to late to start,
giving your King every piece of your heart.
And if you do, you'll find that it's true,
"Happily ever after," is not far from you.
