Let me start by saying, "you are beautiful!" You are a masterpiece, an art work that causes Heaven to stand in awe. There is no one quite so exquisite and lovely as the children of God. At least your Heavenly Father thinks so, "you are all fair, my love, and there is no spot in you." (Song of Solomon 4:7)
Trust me, I know what your thinking, "I'm not beautiful, my nose is to big, I weigh to much, my eyes are not blue and......." And that list would last far to long, why? Because we don't trust our faithful Creator who says without hesitation, "you are fair."
As far as I know God does not have a measuring stick for noses and when you get to heaven I doubt He will have a scale for you to step on, "let's see how much do you weigh?" On the other hand, I do believe He weighs our hearts and measures their growth. So why is it that we women are continually looking in the mirror, stepping on the scale, measuring our waists and the list of diets we've tried would easily fill up a bookcase or two! Do we really feel so inferior, are we really so concerned about this body that the Bible says is, " fading away?" Now don't get me wrong, I certainly am not shaking my finger at make up, diets and keeping ones self lovely but some of us go to the extreme.
Your Father sees you like He sees His Son, when He looks at you He sees, "My Sons eyes, My Sons heart, My Sons hands," because of Christ and only because of Christ can our Father call us beautiful, " you were exceedingly beautiful, and succeeded to royalty.....it was perfect through, My splendor which I had bestowed on you." (Ezekiel 16:13;14 emphasis mine). What is the source of our beauty? Did it say, "it was perfect through the make up that you wore, or the diet you were on, or the clothes you wore?" None of the above makes a heart or a face truly lovely, only the splendor of Jesus Christ can clothe us and make us beautiful.
The Bible says that Jesus was not the handsome man you might find on a magazine cover as you go through the line at Wal-Mart (see Isaiah 53:2) but certainly there was a radiant beauty that came form within that transformed all comeliness about Him, that same transforming power can be yours (see Psalm 34:5). So what if you tip the scale or if your nose is a bit like Pinocchio's , the beauty of Jesus Christ can transform you. His Joy can make your smile beautiful, His love can cause your cheeks to become warm and rosy, He can change you. Never say, "I'm not beautiful," what do you think that's saying to your Creator, instead look in the mirror and smile, "Jesus, you have set your mark upon me!"
While we are talking about beauty I might as well add one small thing about acting on the approval of others, who ever said they were in charge of you, you don't belong to society you belong to your Father in Heaven, it's not what they think but what He thinks. Those that can ware out-dated clothing, or ware their hair differently then the modern trend ought to be praised and commended, they have the courage many of us lack. Keep this phrase in your mind, if your Daddy says your beautiful who cares what the other, "children," think.
