He Loves Me:
Written for Her Fathers Daughter By
Elizabeth Blackwell
My Father is very kind to me His naughty child.
For He gives me the nicest gifts, though I am
mean and wild.
He spares no expense, if it is best for me,
I am to have all that's good,
He promised solemnly.
But sometimes I behave in the wickedest way,
I stomp my foot and shake my head,
refusing to obey.
And though He has to punish me every
now and then, He tells me that He loves
me, again and again.
I cannot explain, define or tell why...
He loves me that’s all, He loves me
that’s it. He loves me every second
of every minute.
I don’t understand but I know that it’s
true. My daddy loves me and
my daddy loves you.

What a beautiful poem, Elizabeth. It is so good to know that he love me even when I sin against Him. It is very comforting that we are not under the Covenant of Works or otherwise we would be left without hope. You are a wonderful poet. Keep up the good work!
Love, Carolyn
