Psalm 139, re-written by Elizabeth, 2006

Dear Lord, You have searched me and thoroughly known me! You know when I sit down and when I stand back up! Before I think something You already know of it! You plan out my life, so You know when I'm sleeping. You know all abut my habits, my favorite colors and what I like to wear. In fact, I've not spoken one word that you didn't already know I was going to say.
You protect me, your hand is sheltering me and you keep me under Your care.
Just thinking about these things takes my breath away, how can I ever understand something so wonderful!?
I can't think of a place where You are no, I could never run from Your eyes! If I went to Heaven, it's Your house so You are there. If I moved to Hell, look You are there too! If I took the wings of the morning, if I could go to the depths of the sea, even there Your hand takes mine and leads me, holding me safe! You could find me in a dark room, when all everyone else has failed because dark and light are the same to You!
I am Your creation, You carefully designed me and when nobody else saw me, You already knew every detail. You skillfully made me, look what an awesome job You did! It's amazing, before I had took my first breath, You knew my entire story.
I count all this as precious to me. That God Almighty would think about me?? You think about me so many times that I could sooner count the sand by the sea than Your thoughts for me! You never leave me, never. If I wake up in the middle of the night, Your still right beside me. I love you so much that I can't bear to have anyone speak against You. It takes me apart when evil men hurt You!
Search me, search me and know me, know me. I don't mind, I want You to know even about my anxiety. Teach me what You want and lead me to Your Home, so that I can know You as You know me!

Interesting....What drew you to write this? I never thought of doing it. But for some reason I have this weird feeling that it is not right to re-write psalms. I know that you can say that all hymns are doing this same thing....but this seems somehow different.

Thank you for your comment! I have actually re-written this psalm twice, this was my second time. I do not feel it is wrong as long as I am not saying...this is how you should feel about this psalm too or this is the word of the Lord. This is simply my observation of this psalm. You can take it or leave it or throw it away...it's not the Bible...it's just my commentary of it :-)
Love you, thanks for all the great comments!!! Elizabeth
