"For as he thinks in his heart, so he is."
Proverbs 23:7
From Monday to Thursday I want you to make a list of different things you let your mind dwell on and I want you to ask yourself these questions this week:
1.Do I often find myself thinking badly about others?
2. What do I do when I have seen something I shouldn't?
3. What are my standards when it comes to movies, music and books? ''
Part of this week we are going to be focusing on the thoughts of our heart, it is in many ways a secret place, no one can see what books you have on your bookshelves or what portraits you hang on the wall of your mind...no one that is except for Jesus. Now that He is "Living in your heart" you have to live differently. Things that once may have been okay to put in your heart become sinful and dirty. You can click on the picture of the house above to read the chapter called "The Study" if you would like. One of the things that Jesus does in the heart of the man, who the stories about, is that He takes a huge picture of Himself and hangs in in the middle of the study. Now of course we don't know what Jesus looks like so obviously this isn't an actual portrait but what is trying to be said is that the more we consume our lives with Jesus, letting Him fill our hearts the less likely we are to let other thing come in and corrupt our Study. Remember these words from Jeremiah 17: 9, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: Who can know it? "
Before you go to bed tonight read Psalm 139, paying special attention to verses 23 and 24. Like David, ask God to search you, confess what He brings to your mind and then spend some time praising Him for His love and mercy!!
