Well I decided to make this week a big deal. I normally do. Ask my family if you don't believe me. I almost can't help myself ;) ...almost. Ever since I was a little girl Easter has been a big deal to me. New dresses, (most years) hats and white gloves are all fun and definitely ways to make the day special but it was more than that...SO much more. I'm the girl who wakes up before dawn to play Handles "Hallelujah Chorus" as the Sun rises on Easter morning. I'm the girl who makes a crown of thorns each year out of a cactus plant we have. I put the crown some place where it can't hurt anyone but where we can still see it and remember. It's all about remembering. I'm fully aware that I may sound like a crazy person but these things help me. As I'm making the crown I'm saying "thank you", as I colour eggs I'm saying "thank you", as I play the "Hallelujah chorus" I'm saying "thank you", as I watch the "Passion of Christ" I'm saying "thank you" and as I am writing this I am saying "thank you." They are "thank you notes" if you will, ways that I express my gratitude. I realize as many people remind me, we really ought to celebrate these things EVERY SUNDAY (let's do that!!!). I just personally like to do things I can't do on a weekly basis.
Here's my question for you (whoever you are ;): If you're not big on remembering Good Friday or celebrating Easter (Resurrection Sunday) that's fine...no pressure but (yep BUT) what are you doing to help yourself remember the sacrifice of Jesus? What are you doing to make the Cross and the Empty Tomb the focus of your life?
From the sometimes slight crazy,
elizabeth a.

This is really good - esp. your question at the end, "What are you doing to remember, to celebrate?" Thank you, friend!
