Take me now, take me away.
Shepherd, Savior lead the way!
Down to desert lands I fear,
Where loneliness is ever near.
Until I'm broken I can't heal!
A heart of stone will never feel.
Broken wings will never fly,
A weighed down spirit touch the sky!
But oh I fail and how I falter!
Yet I wont move from this Your alter.
Bind my heart with loving cords,
I will not struggle against my Lord!
Until I die I'll never live!
An empty heart can never give
A listening heart alone can hear
The comfort whispered in the spirit's ear!
In order to be all that You desire,
First I must learn to love the fire.
Please Lord Jesus remove each stain,
I want only Your love to remain!
Until this work is done I cannot rest
For pain brings out my very best!
The fire removes the dross,
Lord nail this sinful nature to Your cross!
Father teach me to embrace the tools you use!
Though they may not be what I'd choose.
The hammer always brings the tears
But I recall Your nailed hands and the Roman spears.
Until I understand what You did for me
I will never truly be set free.
Your suffering must become my own,
If I'm to drop this heart of stone.
I do so want to be like You!
I dream of being made new.
Tonight it seems a wonderful thing,
Though tomorrow You may be forcing me to sing.
But You see beauty past the dirt and the sin,
So You roll up Your sleeves and begin again.
Until I am the beautiful bride dressed in white,
Until I am glistening in His glorious light.
Until I am learning the angels songs,
Until He's righted all life's wrongs.
Until that day,
Though it seems far away.
I will keep trying, making each sacrifice.
“For to me to live is Christ.”
Down to desert lands I fear,
Where loneliness is ever near.
Until I'm broken I can't heal!
A heart of stone will never feel.

My dear Beth, thank you for posting this poem. I've loved it ever since the day, so many months ago, when you first wrote it. It still fills me with the same encouragement it did then, and I shall enjoy reading it, and reciting it again and again. I love you dear. <3 <3 :-)
