Healthy Living Part 1

I am reading this christian book in titled, "Change your habits, change your life," by Danna Demetre. These are some facts that I thought you may appreciate...I know I did :)
  • Did you know that we need to be drinking one glass of water every hour we are awake?
  • Our bodies need 5-10 grams of fiber per meal. This means the breads we are putting into our bodies should have at least 2-4 grams per serving.
  • The human body is pretty much craving fruits and veggies all the time. You really can't go wrong in this food group.
  • We we're not made to be carnivores. Protein only diets are false.
  • As you know meat is not the only form of protein. We should be creative with our protein-peanut butter, nuts and whole grain crackers are all excellent sources of protein.
  • Our brain needs fat but there are good fats and bad fats. Omega 3 is a good fat that will be healthy food for your brain :) Omega 3 can be found in walnuts and flax seed.
  • It's a good idea to take a multiple vitamin every day.
  • Sugar is just plain bad for you. Sadly. It would be hard to cut it our of your diet completely but here are few helpful suggestions: 1. Do not have sugar before lunch 2. Try not to drink beverages that have sugar in them 3. Desserts you allow yourself to have should be between 200-300 calories per day. 4. Artificial sugar is BAD!!! (if you want more information I can send it to you)
  • It's interesting how we Americans have our meals all backwards in that we eat our largest meal at the end of the day. Our largest meal should actually be our breakfast as it really is true that -breakfast is the most important meal of the day. 6 hours before we go to bed our calorie intake should be cut in half.
  • Instead of having three meals a day we should be having mini meals through out the day.

These are my discoveries thus far :) I will continue to keep this journal of my thoughts for the next month or so!

Great tips. But also one should never skip meals, eat in small quantities, chewing food properly etc. Following these tips, one can maintain healthy habits and eventually healthy life.
